Pram Dinghy: Optional Stability/Fendering Tubes

.
The Nestaway Pram dinghy is generally considered to be pretty stable for her size/type - see for example the comments in the Sailing Today Pram dinghy review - and the vast majority we've sold (in fact all of them up to September 2012) have not had these stability/buoyancy/fendering tubes fitted. But we occasionally hear from customers who would like to have even more stability: sending young children out sailing on their own for the first time perhaps, or wanting to carry a heavy/awkward load.

These optional side tubes make the Pram all-but uncapsizable (a 15-stone bloke can sit or stand on the gunwhales without tipping her over!), inspiring massive confidence under sail, and also give excellent fendering when coming alongside another vessel or dock.

Unless the boat is heeled or very heavily loaded they don't touch the water, so in normal use won't affect the handling or performance.

They are very tough, with a two layer construction (PVC outer with polyurethane bladder), but even if you do manage to puncture one y
ou still have a fully-functional boat. (Similarly you don't have to use them every time you use the boat, only when you feel the need.)

They are attached by means of a short length of slide track and two cleats, taking less than a minute each to blow up and attach.

Another advantage of these externally-mounted tubes is that they add a great deal of buoyancy without impinging on the space inside the dinghy.

The result when fitted to the Nestaway Pram is a boat with inflatable-like stability and fendering, whilst retaining the excellent performance under oars and sail on which her reputation is built.

Price for the buoyancy/stability/fendering tubes is £395 including all mounting hardware. A lot of people already have a pump but if you need one we can supply a good quality 5 litre foot-operated version for £19.

The tubes can also be fitted to almost any other hard dinghy of 7ft or more in length, and will have a transformative effect on even the most "tippy" of craft.
